MOBILedit!

A useful way of archiving, storing and transferring information from one mobile phone to another via a PC.

Comments: MOBILedit! is a PC-based software programme that lets you control your mobile phone via a computer using either a Bluetooth, infrared or USB cable connection and it will work with a whole host of regular phones - not just the latest high spec smartphones.

The one thing that we found slightly tricky with MOBILedit! was getting our Bluetooth connection right so that the software would pick up our test phone. The reason for this is that in the settings for MOBILedit!, you need to specify where you want the software to look for the connection and this can be tricky if you are using Bluetooth and/or a USB port. If in doubt, or you have multiple connection points, setting it to search all of them should solve any difficulties.

Although MOBILedit! doesn't come with an instruction manual as such (it has an FAQ page on the website and a support email link if you hit trouble), its not difficult to use once the phone connection has been established. The way in which the icons and function buttons are presented and laid out make it very intuitive to use and we were sending texts and dialling calls via our PC within minutes.

In addition to that you can also use MOBILedit! to store the details of more than one phone or SIM card and to copy them across to other phones or to Microsoft Outlook on your PC at the click of a button, and archive and organise text messages, keep a record of missed calls or numbers dialled and even play chess!

MOBILedit! costs from US$39 with one month's worth of free upgrades or US$59 for 12 months of free upgrades from the online shop on the website.
