MOBILedit Phone Management Software Reviewed

What if... you could send and receive text, email and picture messages while at work; access your cellular phonebook with just one click; and check your phone's battery life and reception from your pc? And what if you could do all that with over 200 models of cellular phones?

Good news. MOBILedit! has made it happen.

The creators of this program, Compelson Laboratories, have been around for over a decade now. Since 1991, they’ve created programs such as Password Officer, SIMedit!, and MOBILedit!.

Easy Easy Easy

With its user friendly menus, EVERYONE is capable of mastering this program. Connect your cellphone to a PC using a data cable, irda, or Bluetooth. MOBILedit! does the rest. It will automatically recognize your phone and present its' data before your eyes!

Smooth Performance

I initially installed MOBILedit! on Windows 2000, and now I’ve installed it on Windows XP. The performance and speed of this program is great and it uses less resources than the Siemens Data Suite. (I’ve compared both programs because I own a few Siemens handsets.)

When the program is launched for the first time, the MOBILedit! Wizard pops up and asks you for your connectivity option(s). Simply select what your phone is connected to, hit next, and Detect Phone(s). Once a handset is detected, it will show up in a text box, all you need to do is select it and hit “OK”.

Accidentally deleted all your phone numbers? Not to worry. MOBILedit! also has the ability to backup and restore your phone settings while your phone is online or offline.

Other than managaing cellular phones, MOBILedit! also has built in games. It came with the game Chess during my review. And if you aren’t a blue color fan, MOBILedit! allows you to change the layout colors to your liking. Simply go to MOBILedit!’s website at www.mobiledit.com and download skins for your MOBILedit! window.

Flaws

What flaws? I really haven’t found a single downside for this software yet. It hasn’t crashed on me, corrupted my files, or failed to recognize the phones I’ve plugged in to do this review with. This is, in my experience and opinion, the best built mobile phone software I’ve ever used.

Price

MOBILedit! starts at about $55 CDN with one month of free upgrades or $80 CDN for twelve months of free upgrades. I don’t know about you, but I think it’s a steal! It’s not a program that only supports ONE brand or model, but almost the ENTIRE market of cellular phones available to gadget obsessed hands!
